Resource Guarding is the act of aggressively protecting objects including toys, food, different areas, Sofas and even you!
Anything your dog perceives as valuable to him/her can be protected by snarling, growling and even snapping at you. Your dog may even show signs of object guarding when simply approaching his/her sleeping space or patting your dog.
A common instance where this occurs is when approaching your dog when he/she has:
From my experience as a dog trainer, I can confidently tell you that one of the first signs you need to be aware of is when the ears start pointing backwards or perhaps they go very still or rigid. This is the typical body language for resource guarding.
Other signs include crouching over the object, displaying what’s known as ‘whale eye’ where their head is turned away but their eyes are still looking towards you (here are images of whale eyes from Google), and lips are slightly pulled back (almost like your dog is grinning) and the eyes might look dilated.
In two sessions you will be a lot more confident around your dog as the resource guarding becomes a lot more manageable. That’s the magic you can find in Dog Trainer Thailand reviews. I’ve done this time & again!
